Term 2 Numeracy Overview
 

Number:

  • Mental addition and subtraction within 10 and 20
  • Become more confident with numbers up to 50/100
  • Know number after, before and between, odd and even numbers, sequencing numbers within 50/100
  • Counting forwards and backwards in1’s, 2’s, 5’s and 10’s
  • Become familiar with the position of numbers within the 100 grid
  • Revise number bonds of 10
  • Revision of place value (tens and units)
  • Adding 10 to a 2-digit number
  • Doubles to double 10
  • Sequencing days of the week, months of the year and seasons

Money:

  • counting the value of a selection of coins, finding the change etc.

Time:

  • o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to in analogue and digital times

Shape: 

  • Recognise and name 2D and 3D shapes

Measure:

  • Learning to measure objects for length in cm

Data-Handling:

  • Construct and interpret tables, block graphs, pictograms, etc.

 

 

 

Term 2 Literacy Overview

 

Writing:

  • Children can discuss the events, characters and settings in a story
  • They can predict what will happen in a story
  • Children should be able to retell stories
  • They should know the terms poem, poet, verse and rhyme
  • Find information from resources to write about a given topic

 

Grammar:

  • Use correct punctuation in sentences including full stops, question marks, commas and speech marks
  • Use commas to separate items in a list
  • Recognise nouns and verbs in a sentence

 

Reading:

  • Understand the difference between fiction and non-fiction
