On Thursday 14 March a number of our Art Club members had their artwork put on display at Portadown Fireplaces, Foundry Street, Portadown. Visitors on the opening night of the exhibition commented on the professionalism of the pieces and offers of sale were made! Perhaps we may have a budding Matisse or Picasso in our midst!
Many thanks to Silva Urbetiene for organising the exhibition and to Portadown Fireplaces for hosting the event. Visitors are free to view the children's work throughout the Easter period.
Teams from Primary 6 and 7 represented Drumgor PS at a Tag Rugby Tournament at Chambers Park, Portadown on Monday 11 March. Against a biting wind and snow flurries, the boys and girls put their all into their matches against teams from Millington PS, Bocombra PS, Moyallen PS and Birches PS. Thank you to Portadown Rugby Club for organising this fun event.
World Book Day was on Thursday 7 March and everyone in Drumgor PS came to school dressed as a character from their favourite book. We had a special Assembly to show off all the costumes and hear about each other's favourite books- even the teachers!
The day finally arrived on Friday 17 May for our rugby squad to travel to Ravenhill, Belfast to take part in the Ulster Primary Schools Mini Rugby Blitz.
The sun shone down on the boys as they played matches against teams from Dickson PS, Lurgan, Fairhill PS, Dromara and Whiteabbey PS. The boys all received free t-shirts and pens, complimentary Domino's Pizza for lunch and an unexpected visit from an Ulster Rugby team player-Ruan Pienaar! Ruan chatted to the boys and signed their t-shirts and our school rugby ball. He even had time for a photocall with Miss Stevenson and Mrs Stewart!
Our Rugby Squad were involved in their second blitz on Thursday 2 May at PRFC. The team played progressively better with each match and became more physical and attacking in their play. They met teams from Hardy Memorial PS, Richhill, Edenderry PS, Portadown, Tandragee PS, Millington PS, Portadown and Seagoe PS, Portadown. The boys have their sights set on Ravenhill next! Check out the boy's thoughts on their rugby experience so far on the Ulster Rugby website www.ulsterrugby.com and search for 'Mini Rugby'.
