Fun Day

 

We had a great day at our Fun Day with lots of games, fun on the bouncy castle, a fun box lunch, visit from the ice cream van and dancing with all of P1-P3! We will all be ready for bed tonight!

Sports Day

 

We had a great day at our P1 and P2 Sports Day!

We enjoyed our running race, bean bag bouncing race and obstacle race.

Everyone received a sticker for taking part as well as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners from each race.

It was such a hot sunny day so we enjoyed an ice lolly to cool-down in the afternoon.

Break the Rules Day

 

Drumgor PS was full of rule breakers but it was all for a great cause as we raised money for local charity the Bluebell Trust. We raised over £400 by wearing our own clothes, sporting crazy hairstyles and having an unhealthy snack.

Butterfly Release Day

 

Our butterflies all finally emerged from their chrysalis so it was time to release them into nature to find their new homes.

Dogs Trust Workshop

 

We had a lovely visit from Julie from the Dogs Trust who told us how to stay safe around dogs and taught us 5 rules to keep both us and dogs safe. It was very informative and everyone loved stroking the toy dogs she had brought to show us.

Under the Sea

 

We have been enjoying our new ‘Under the Sea’ topic. We have been learning about the different creatures who live under water and discussing the differences between tropical and arctic waters. We have been enjoying our role play sea cave and lots of other fun under the sea themed play activities and crafts.

Shared Education with Tullygally PS

 

We have missed being able to meet our Shared Education partner school, Tullygally Primary School, due to the pandemic.

We were delighted to finally have a trip together to Tannaghmore Gardens to reconnect and play together. We enjoyed playing in the park, walking around the farm animals and playing games and we look forward to meeting our friends from tullygally again soon.

Creepy crawly caterpillars

 

There has been great excitement in P1/2 as we have some baby caterpillars visiting. We have been watching them get bigger and bigger and now they have turned into chrysalis. We can’t wait to see them become beautiful butterflies.

Easter fun in P1/2

 

There is great egg-citement as we approach the Easter holidays. We have been very busy with lots of Easter activities in play based learning and have been making lovely Easter crafts to bring home.

On the last day of term we had an Easter party and an Easter egg hunt outside…it was so much fun!

The Great Outdoors

 

As we are enjoying better weather we having been enjoying taking our play based learning outdoors in our new natural area. We have been digging and planting and enjoying reading and playing outside.

Run, run, as fast as you can!

 

Our next fairytale was The Gingerbread Man. We sequenced the pictures from the story, decorated gingerbread men biscuits and made gingerbread mean artwork .

Once upon a time…

 

We kick started our new ‘Once upon a time’ topic with the fairytale ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’.

We read the story, wrote a sentence and drew a picture . We have also been enjoying our role play castle during play based learning, building castles in the sand and painting castles.

World Book Day

 

We celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite book characters. We also completed a challenge to take a photo reading in an unusual place…I’m sure you will agree we have some really unusual spots.

Spring has Sprung

 

With all the new signs of spring in the air outside we thought it was time to brighten up our classroom inside. First up we have painted some lovely yellow daffodil pictures to display on our wall.

Pancake Day

 

We had great fun on Pancake Tuesday making and sampling yummy pancakes. We had a selection of toppings to choose from and everyone enjoyed trying them out.

Children’s Mental Health Day

 

Everyone looked great in their colourful outfits as we celebrated Children’s Mental Health Day. We enjoyed seeing the other classes outside on our pitch. Thank you to all who donated to our chosen charity ‘Goal Line Youth Trust’.

Love is in the Air

 

We have been busy creating Heart artwork for our school competitions and making and writing our Valentines Cards…I wonder who will be the lucky recipients. 🤔

Animal Crackers - Winter Animals 

 

We have been enjoying our Winter topic and have been focusing on the animals who live in cold places. We have enjoyed making winter tree pictures, polar bears and penguins.

Christmas Jumper and Dinner day

 

Everyone looked great in their Christmas jumpers. We enjoyed a yummy Christmas dinner and had a lovely hot chocolate treat in the afternoon.

Navan Centre Trip

 

We had a great day on our Christmas Outing to the Navan Cente in Armagh. We watched a short panto called ‘The Elf who stole Christmas’, had festive snacks, mad a Christmas craft and met Santa who gave us all a Christmas selection box.

Santa Run

 

Today we took part in the Santa Run Daily Mile with our festive accessories.

It was great fun and has got us all in the festive spirit.

The Spirit of Christmas

 

Christmas has arrived in P1/2. We had fun decorating our tree and have been enjoying Christmas themed play activities. We practiced our writing skills from our important Santa letters and ar making sur we ar on our best behaviour for our elf Ed.

Preparing for Spring

 

It may be winter but we have started preparing for Spring by planting spring bulbs for our outside play area. We can’t wait to watch them grow in the spring next year.

Odd Socks Day

 

We wore our odd socks to celebrate Anti Bullying Week.

We talked about being kind and looking after each other and how important it is to remember that everyone is different and unique.

 

Halloween in P1/2

 

Our nursery rhyme this week is Incy Wincy Spider. We have been having lots of Halloween fun with themed play activities, a Halloween themed Debutots visit, a dress up day and a party.

Little Jack Horner

 

We enjoyed guessing the fruit from this weeks rhyme…when we found out it was a plum we all tasted them and then completed a pictograms to show how many people did and didn’t like them.

Autumn leaves are falling

 

We enjoyed an Autumn walk around the school grounds. We stopped to look at the apple trees and brought some back which the P1s used to make apple printing patterns.

We have also been painting Autumn trees to display in our classroom and investigating the things we found on our walk. We collected lots of sticks and have been wrapping them up in autumn coloured oil to keep them warm and cosy.

Girls IFA Football Workshop

The girls loved their IFA football workshop despite the rain.

It was tricky to get a photo of them as they were moving so fast and having so much fun.

Baa Baa Black Sheep

 

This weeks theme was sheep and we looked at the nursery rhymes ‘Little Bo Peep’ and ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’.

We made fluffy Pom Pom sheep and had a go at shearing our own shaving foam sheep. We learned about how wool is made and what things are made with wool.

Quiet Little mice

 

This weeks theme was mice and we looked at the nursery rhymes ‘Three Blind Mice’ and ‘Hickory Dickory Dock’.

We made mice to display in our classroom. We also made warm and cosy homes for our mice puppets.

Humpty and Friends 

 

Our first topic is ‘Humpty and Friends’.

Each week we will be learning a new Nursery Rhyme and each week will have a different theme.

Week ones theme is Eggs and the rhyme is Humpty Dumpty.

We had great fun playing with eggs during play based learning. We decorated eggs and then had egg rolling races.

Our P2s also carried out an experiment by wrapping eggs in different materials and dropping them to see which broke and which didn’t.

We have all been enjoying getting to know our new classroom and making friends in our class.
