Home Learning

P1 Mrs Hughes

As we face a time of school closure, we have put together this pack which we hope will help you to continue to keep your child’s progress developing over the next number of weeks. We will be using this in conjunction with Seesaw and will direct you as to the activities we would like you to complete each week. You have also been provided with a Home Learning Pack which consists of paper based activities, games and practical activities. This will be used alongside digital Seesaw activities and resources that were included in the Home Learning Pack that was offered in August to provide a balanced and varied approach to your child's learning whilst at home. Please take some time to look through what is included in the pack.

During this period of time at home the responsibility will be with the parents and family members to help deliver your child’s education – please try to include some educational activities in your plans every day and set a routine to help your children to understand the current situation we are in.

Daily Numeracy and Literacy will be of most importance – I have included some work for both areas and a list of websites you can use to access further ideas, activities and interactive games. Also make use of the ‘Mathletics’ and ‘Teach your Monster to Read’ apps which are linked on our class page under 'Links'. Reading will be very important and books will be assigned each week on Collins E books. This is accessible via a computer or by downloading the app. Please remember that 'no app can replace a lap'. Spending time with your child reading a story book from home, baking with them or going on a nature work is worthwhile and important.

I will be contactable via Seesaw and will be using this platform to provide weekly tasks, activities and links for your child just as we have been doing for homework throughout the year. Please continue to upload pictures and videos of your child to their journal as this allows me to monitor their progress and provide support and advice. I love to see what the children are getting up to and will be sharing their great work on the website, Seesaw journal and maybe even on our school Facebook page.
