Welcome to P5/6
Sink or Float
On Tuesday 21st January, Sarah from Sentinus presented a workshop on water- specifically on sinking and floating. This was a great STEM day and fantastic way to finish our topic of Liquid Gold (Water).
New Year Assembly
On Friday 17th January, P5/6 took the school assembly. The drama and main message was New Year resolutions.
Champion
Our very own pupil won the national Panini Challenge, designing a football badge which they judged the best in the country. She has taken home some lovely prizes including a £50 voucher. She also won the school £1000!
Winter Trail
Well done to our active pupils, who walked, scooted or cycled to school for the Winter Trail.
Measuring perimeter.
Pupils estimated, then measured, the perimeter of rooms and spaces around the school.
Performing Poetry
P5/6 are reading and performing poems. Next week they will plan and write their own.
Children in Need
On Friday 15th November, P5/6 came to school in non-uniform and brought in donations for Children in Need. We also visited the library in Brownlow again, this time to browse their computers.
Library Visit
On Tuesday 1st October, P5/6 visited Brownlow Library. Stephanie showed the boys and girls what the library has to offer and how the process of book-lending works. The boys and girls are all signed-up and many have already taken some books home.
Health and Hygiene
On Friday 20th September, Mrs Parnham led a Talking Partners' session on 'Smelly Socks' by Robert Munsch. P5/6 discussed the story, as well as issues around our personal health and hygiene.
Accelerated Reader and Mathletics
iPad time includes an opportunity for pupils to build up points on Accelerated Reader and Mathletics. As a school, we really want to promote these as a means of enhancing reading and Numeracy skills.
Problem Solving
Thursday is Problem Solving day. It provides an opportunity for P5/6 to work orally, practically and in writing, to find solutions to tricky number challenges.
Healthy Kidz
Healthy Kidz are back, taking a weekly P.E. session. Please ensure that on Tuesdays (P.E.) and Thursdays (Healthy Kidz), children have no jewellery and have their P.E. kits.
Barnardos Workshop
On Thursday 12th September, Paula from Barnardos spoke to P5/6 about resilience- overcoming the 'bumps' on the road of life. She gave some great mental health advice for the boys and girls going forward.
Mental maths games
Let's Vote!
