What a busy day we have had! As part of World Book Day, Primary 1 along with Primary 2, were able to listen to a local author called Stephen Park. We really enjoyed listening to the story called Sasi’s Place in Space. ð Primary 1 listened so well. We then enjoyed learning about the importance of reading in our classrooms before completing some World Book Day colouring and creating bookmarks. âïļ
During our WAU lesson this week, we were able to recall the events of the story in Jack and the Beanstalk. We remembered that Jack has sold his cow for some beans ðŪ We thought we should try some! We tried broad beans, green beans and cannellini beans. Some we enjoyed and others not so much. We then had a discussion about what the world giant means.
On Monday, for our PE lesson, we had a very special treat. We went to the sensory room in school for a relaxation and breathing session. I think it is clear from the pictures Primary 1 had the best time ð ðŦ
As part of our Castles topic, we listened to the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We were able to discuss the front cover of our story book, guessing what might happen throughout the story and who the main characters were. We learnt that Jack climbed a beanstalk to find a castle in the sky. Take a look to see what P1 thought of the story. With the dry weather, we enjoyed listening to this story in our outdoor garden.
As part of our new Castles/Once Upon a Time topic, we listened to the story called ‘The Extremely Greedy Dragon’. We enjoyed listening to this story out in our school garden. Mr Rodgers did a great job of reading such a lovely story.
Primary 1 enjoyed using the I-Pads recently. We spent time thinking about how to correctly programme the Bee-Bot so it could reach the flower ðļ
Primary 1 have been thinking about 3-D shapes. We learnt that these objects can be picked up and can be found in our everyday lives. We have been thinking about cubes, cuboids and spheres. We spent some time making 3-D shape models, talking about the shapes we used.
Primary 1 were so excited to come back to school after our half term holidays. Our new topic is Once Upon a Time/Castles Take a look at our play based learning. ð°
On the last day before our half term holidays, Primary 1 thought about love. Take a look at our super artwork ðž
Primary 1 worked really hard to sort our counting objects using Carroll diagrams. We put the animals in the correct place based on certain criteria e.g. could the animals fly or how many legs did it have. ðĶ
Primary 1 really enjoyed using the I-Pads to create a jungle picture using the Just2Easy software. Take a look at how hard we are working.
Primary 1 were so excited to come back to school after the Christmas holidays. Our new topic is Jungle Rhymes. Take a look at our jungle play based learning. ðĩ ðģ
We had very exciting visitors in our class! Santa and Mrs Claus came to visit. They enjoyed hearing us sing jingle bells and gave each of us a candy cane. To finish off the day, Primary 1 enjoyed a class party playing musical chairs and statues. ð ðķ
To celebrate the recent success of our Breakfast club, the school hosted a whole school breakfast. ðĨ We enjoyed brioches, croissants and lots of fresh fruit. We enjoyed hearing from the Mayor and listening to our school choir singing ðķ
During our last week of term, Primary 1 went with Primary 2 and 3 on a school trip to Navan Fort. We were very excited to travel by bus there. Whilst at Navan Fort, we were treated to a super performance, made our own penguins and even joined in on a penguin party. We had lots of fun! ð§ âïļ
For the month of December, Primary 1 had a special visitor in our classroom. Santa sent us our very own elf! Using the Just2Easy software, we suggested names and then voted for our favourite name for the elf.
Primary 1 really enjoyed taking part in the whole school Santa Mile. How super is our festive headwear. ð âïļ
During our first term, we focused on lots of fundamental movement skills. Our main focus was balance, and we really enjoyed lots of opportunities to do Cosmic Yoga to help this.
During our first term, we looked at the story of Creation. We learnt how God made the world in 7 days, and what he made each day. Take a look at us working hard on our RE books.
As part of the Jolly Postmans journey, he stopped off at Goldilocks house ðĄ We created instructions on how to make porridge, which we then made in class. We showed off our hard working in our Literacy books, illustrating a picture about it and writing over the sentence ‘We made porridge’.
Primary 1 enjoyed wearing their odd socks to school ðŦ Drumgor is an anti-bullying school and our odd socks show that we support and work hard to achieve this.
After our October half term holidays, we have enjoyed looking at our topic ‘The Jolly Postman’. We have had lots of fun playing in the Post Office in the role play corner and making postboxes as part of creative. Take a look at how much fun we are having during play.
During our Halloween dress up day, we enjoyed lots of fun activities. We played party games such as Pass the Parcel, musician statues and enjoyed a special snack. Take a look at one of our favourite activities of the day - pumpkin carving ð
Before finishing for the half term holidays, we enjoyed a Halloween dress up day in school ð We took part in a whole school daily mile on the pitch. Take a look at our super costumes.
During Good Relations Week, we enjoyed taking part in an online learning session with Tullygally. We read the story ‘Have you filled a bucket today?’ and created artwork based on kindness. We were so excited to show our new friends. We can’t wait to see them again soon.
During our Numeracy in our first half term, we learnt about repeating patterns. We worked on AB patterns, extending this as the term progressed. Take a look at our super patterns made using counting objects.
In our Numeracy in our first half term, we looked at sorting for one criterion. Using the sorting circles, we were able to place the bears into the correct ones e.g. yellow and not yellow. How clever are P1!
As part of our first Literacy topic, we were looking at Nursery Rhymes such as Humpty Dumpty, Little Jack Horner and Three Blind Mice. Take a look at our super art and preposition work.
We have really enjoyed getting to know our new teacher and classroom assistant, learning about the routines and expectations in Primary 1. Have a look at our super play based learning (our favourite part of the day)! ð
